If there’s one thing you should know about me: I. LOVE. READING.
As a kid, my punishment was not my flip phone, TV, or laptop taken away—it was my books! I used to stay up until 2 AM from the age of 12 onwards; devouring 500+ page novels in a single sitting was a regular habit of mine. And obviously, this innate love for words has translated into my current writer and journalist career.
My MA Fashion Journalism professor at Central Saint Martins put it best: “The only way to become a better writer is to READ!” If there was one thing you could count on throughout the program’s year, it was his persistent emails, tweets, texts, and verbal mentions of articles our class should be looking at.
Nowadays, good journalism—particularly fashion journalism—is hard to find. But fear not, reader! For I have compiled a list of some of my favorite writers. Writers whose work I always find myself gravitating towards.
Some, I’m lucky enough to call friends and colleagues. And others, I’ve admired from afar for years. All, I hope to be even half the writers that they are.
Not all of them write about fashion. In fact, I strongly believe that reading people’s work from various fields and diverse publications has aided me in becoming a better writer. Great writing is great writing.
